Cafe Cerés.
Minneapolis, MN
I do love a coffee shop with a good vibe, and Cafe Cerés has that for sure. They have a few different locations…this one is in Linden Hills and always buzzes.
Lots of business-type meetings and people getting work done. I suppose as far as offices go, this is as good as it gets. (Their tea…while good, is like $6 or $7. I suppose if you think of it as paying rent it’s not a bad deal.)
Their pastries are great, but don’t sleep on the food…it’s as good as any sit down lunch place in town. Definitely a few steps above typical coffee shop food.
Walking Dog.
Minneapolis, MN
I don’t know if dogs can feel me coming up behind them…or maybe I smell like dog treats from 25 yards away…or they can tell that I’m imagining petting them…or they can just sense when a dog lover is close. Whatever it is, this guy kept looking back at me with a look that said: “Catch-up, Dude!…And give me some pets and treats if you’ve got them!”
Cloudland Theater.
Minneapolis, MN
Cloudland is a pretty new music spot on Lake Street that would be pretty easy to drive by if you didn’t know what you were looking for.
It’s a killer spot, run by some pretty cool people that did it right. That’s the doorman…I didn’t get his name, but he was great. Funny and super helpful…unless you were someone doing something uncool, in which case I wouldn’t want to cross that dude. He was all business.
Tim Casey and the Martyrs had our first indoor gig since the pandemic (which seems hard to believe).
The gig was great for many reasons…there was tons of energy, a good crowd, and a great space.
Cloudland is not like any other music club I’ve been to…It’s clean. I don’t mean sort of clean…I mean REALLY clean.
At first it threw me off because you’re supposed to stick to the floor of a rock club, and only use the bathroom as a last resort. I thought the place was going to feel too sterile for rock and roll.
Nope.
And it turns out there’s nothing wrong with a tidy rock club where things are clean, everything works, the people are nice, and they serve $6 glasses of (pretty good) wine.
Dog in a Canoe.
Minneapolis, MN
I was walking around the lake the other day and I saw this dude in a canoe and I almost totally missed seeing his passenger…except his wagging tail caught my eye.
It was like he was trying to get my attention…he looked right at me with a look that said: “How cute is this?”
That’s livin’.
Love this.......and the dogs....be still my heart!
