Coming Soon: Walkin’ Around Checkin’ Stuff Out.
Drawings of old buildings, cool old people and maybe some dogs.
What is WACSO?
WACSO stands for Walkin’ Around Checkin’ Stuff Out, and these are the drawings I make when i’m out walking around checkin’ stuff out.
Duck Duck Coffee. Minneapolis, MN
Where it started.
I’ve always kept a journal…little scribbles documenting the (mostly mundane) things in life. At some point the drawings got a little better and took on a life of their own.
Find the beauty in the small stuff.
We’d all love be in Paris or traveling the world full time…but we’re not. And we don’t need to be to find cool stuff. There’s cool stuff everywhere we look if we’re open to seeing it.
What to expect.
I draw everyday…it’s a passion or maybe an obsession (or maybe some sort of disorder), I don’t know. But I need to document…to record cool shit, and to share it with like minded people that would like to see something positive in the world as a break from bad news a social media noise. If that sounds good to you, you’ve come to the right place.
I’ll plan to post once a week with the drawings I make and the little writings that go with it. Yes, there will probably be typos. Bare with me, I’m not a writer…but the words are just as important to the art as the art itself.
2023 Minnesota State Fair.
I recently did a series of drawings of the Minnesota State Fair for the Star Tribune. There’s nothing better than the state fair and it’s crazy collection of people and fried foods on a stick. It’s so much bad, it’s actually good.
Sax players around the lake. Minneapolis, MN
This is the perfect example of Walkin’ Around Checkin’ Stuff Out. It was just a regular Saturday and I was taking my usual walk around Lake Harriet when I came upon a dude playing the sax…clearly not a professional street musician…just a regular dude out practicing his sax, lovin’ life and laying down a great soundtrack for a lake walk. On the other side of the lake I ran into ANOTHER sax player…again, clearly not a pro street performer. This time it was a young girl practicing in front of an audience of walkers, joggers bikers and skaters. This is the stuff that makes life so cool. And thanks to the sax players for making my walk around the lake a little better. Oh, and the girl had a Venmo set up to take tips, so maybe she is a little more pro than I thought.
How’s that for a start?
My plan is to share drawings as I make them and hopefully inspire you to get out and WACSO for yourself.
