Bulldogs and barber shops and other cool stuff I saw this week.
Bulldog Party.
St. Paul-Minneapolis Bulldog Club. St. Paul, MN
We took Davis to this when he was real tiny last year. Now he’s full grown and there were other young puppies there to remind us how damn cute bulldog puppies are.
That young puppy age when they are overwhelmed by everything going on around them, or asleep. (Or pooping and peeing.)
Looking tough. But looks are deceiving, and usually are when it comes to bulldogs and their owners.
Meteor Bar.
Minneapolis, MN
Love this joint in the old Stand Up Frank’s space. If Stand Up Frank’s can’t be around anymore, Meteor is a great replacement. It still feels like a dive drinking bar, but with better drinks…and hot dogs.
Lilac Season.
Minneapolis, MN.
Stop and smell the…lilacs. I can’t get enough whiffs of these things before they’re gone. I saw this woman stop for a whiff…and she may have taken a handful to-go…but I won’t tell if you won’t tell.
St. Paul Views.
St. Paul, MN.
Went to MPR for a meeting and got a tour of the building the included an outdoor patio with a cool view of some churches and the state capital in the distance. St. Paul is great for sightseeing and cool old buildings.
Sweet Old Ride.
Linden Hills. Minneapolis, MN.
Sitting at the coffee shop and this old dude rolls up lookin’ smooth in a cool old convertible to meet his other old dude buddies on a perfect sunny day.
The kind of car you hear and smell before you see.
Fishing Buddy.
Lake Harriet. Minneapolis, MN
I saw this old dude down by the lake fishing with his best buddy. Is there a better fishing buddy than a dog? They’ll listen to your stories, keep your secrets, and they won’t drink your beer.
Old School Barber Shop.
Minneapolis, MN.
I love an old school barber shop. Gotta say I don’t thinkmI’ve ever seen one named after a woman…although I suppose Cindy could be a guy. I wonder if Cindy allows the standard issue stack of old Playboys hidden behind the Sport Illustrated magazines?
In A Van Down By The River.
Remember when living in a van down by the river was a bad thing? Now it seems to be the dream. I bet a couple influencers with millions of followers and a YouTube channel live in those things.
