It feels like we just wrapped up the Lyndale Avenue Checklist so it’s hard to believe we are doing another. Well, sort of. We did the first Checklist on Central Avenue almost 10 years ago. Now we’re headed back out and see what’s new and what’s changed. Turns out a lot…at least 25 new or different spots since we last visited.
These streets are constantly changing and evolving and we are going to be there to eat everything Central can throw at us.
NOTE: These drawings are only 1/4 of what makes up a Checklist outing…there’s the actual food reviews, great photos of the food, and atmospheric write-ups to give you a sense of the outing and what the place is really like. It’s a ton of work that can only happen thanks to the HeavyTable and I urge you to join their mailing list. $5 a week gets you emails loaded with restaurant reviews and features (the best reviews anywhere if you ask me), and of course the Checklist. It’s a cause worth supporting.
Yemeni.
When we first started this insanity I would say the Checklist forced us to go to places we didn’t know existed…and if we knew they existed, we might not go inside…and if we went inside, we might not order. Well, add to that list: You might not be able to find the place. Yemeni is all of those things. Nearly impossible to find around the backside of a building that houses a food market/convenience store in the front with signage for about 4 different businesses, none of which is for Yemeni. I’ll let you read the review at the HeavyTable, but I will tell you Yemeni is an absolute blow-away. The food was amazing and worth the search.
3 Guys Grill.
From goat to burgers. Clearly a play on the 5 Guys name. (I think it would only take 1 Guy to realize that was a bad idea.)
Hyderabad Indian / Dosa Indian Grill
A 2 for 1 stop with menus from two popular spots available under one roof.
No Dosa signage on the outside of the building…the only indication was a second menu we were offered as we were seated.
Golden Nuts.
What seemed like a quick and easy stop to give our stomachs a break was anything but. Like Yemeni, Golden Nuts is a gem of a spot you really have to try…like right now…as soon as you are done reading this.
The one-two punch of Yemeni Cuisine and Golden Nuts was just ridiculous. So much good food there. And now I'm hungry for that lamb and rice again.
