If you know me you know I usually like dogs more than people. Ok…I always like dogs more than people. But don’t get me wrong, people can be cool, too…it’s just that they are best enjoyed from a distance.
But interesting people are what make this such a cool city and people watching is one of my favorite pastimes. So let’s do a little people watching, shall we?
Bandshell People Watching.
We’re damn lucky to have the Lake Harriet Bandshell and it’s almost nightly live music shows. The people watching is fantastic. They may be waiting for the show to start, but for me they are the show.
I love seeing so many different types of people at the bandshell on a perfect summer night.
“Screen-time” is a thing we hear a lot about these days when it comes to kids…but what about the oldsters? It sure seems to be a thing with that age group. I think this daughter was telling her mom she needed to put her phone down.
Old Dude Fishing.
I bet he feels like a kid again out there casting…hoping to hook the big one.
Sunset At Lake Harriet.
I love it when people head down to the lake to watch the sunset, and I love seeing people take photos of cool stuff. Even though they are all taking basically the exact same photo, each person is making it their own. Say what you will about phones in our lives, I think it’s pretty cool we can document stuff so easily.
Dude On A Walk.
This is one of those dudes that’s lived a while. He’s done some stuff and he’s got no interest in impressing anyone. His clothes are all function and comfort…in that order. He carries a pocket calendar and a pen in his shirt pocket and could tell you just about anything you need to know about fixing stuff whether or not you want to hear it.
Construction Dudes.
Lots of these dudes around town these days. It feels like they are tearing up the entire city lately. I did see them grilling lunch out of the tailgate of a pickup truck, so that was pretty cool.
Aster Cafe Guitar Player.
I should know his name because I’ve talked to him many times and have been grooving on his music for years. I’ve even drawn him a few times before. Aster Cafe has one of the best outdoor patios in the cities and this guy with his jazz guitar playing is the secret weapon for creating a killer vibe.
