The little moments are actually the big moments.
I started living that idea years ago when I realized each day of our lives can’t be spent wandering the streets of Paris or some other far off place. We should groove on what we’ve got and take the time to find the cool stuff that’s all around us. It’s like weekends, if we only live for the weekend it doesn’t leave much of a life.
I love when I get notes from people that say they’ve been out “Walkin’ Around Checkin’ Stuff Out”…that’s the attitude.
Cuzzy’s Bar.
Every city has a dive bar with about a million one dollar bills stuck to the walls and ceiling. In Minneapolis that bar is Cuzzy’s. Cuzzy’s has been around since way before the North Loop neighborhood got all fancy (or even had the name North Loop), so it’s nice to see them hanging-on around all the hipster spots popping up. The neighborhood needs a spot like this to remind people of the area’s seedier past.
Marine General Store.
This place is like walking back in time…from the look of the outside, to the ringing of the bell when you open the door to the creaking of the old wood floors as you walk through the aisles to the smell of a place that sells everything from fresh meats and potato salad to canned goods and tools and toys. If you need it, they probably have it. (Well, they don’t have wine and we needed that, but they have pretty much everything else.)
Old Gas Station.
Love this old gas station in Bayport. It’s not a gas station anymore, but whatever it is they’ve kept it feeling old and haven’t screwed it up…(a rare thing these days). It adds to the charm of mainstreet Bayport all the way down to the cool old pickup truck.
Sweet Ride.
I could hear this thing coming from a black away and smell it for 6 blocks after it was gone, but what a cool car. Cars were a lot more fun back then.
People.
To me there’s nothing better than seeing someone take their best buddy for a walk. You know they’ll be crashed-out on the couch together as soon as they get home.
Ok, maybe the only thing better than watching someone take their best buddy for a walk is watching them just hanging out giving and getting pets. That’s the best.
I don’t actually know if this couple is from Florida, but with those outfits they sure look like they’re gearing-up to head down that way in a few months. It’s like they’re practicing for the big move.
