Takin’ a drive through the country and hittin’ some small towns is one of our favorite hobbies. Haven’t done as much of it as we would like the past year or so since we’ve gotten Davis the bulldog. We brought him with us on this drive…he loves the car and we found a spot to grab lunch outside so he could hang out.
Country drive.
We tend to avoid small towns around election time…especially this year. Seeing T*ump signs doesn’t do much for my mental health, but I didn’t see as many as last time and I’m getting pretty good at ignoring them.
Wright Saddle Club.
File under “Stuff you won’t see in the city”…Heck, file under “I don’t even know what that is.” Ok…I (think) I know what that is. A giant place just for people to ride their horses. I guess the closest thing to this we have in the city would be a dog park.
Pig On The Porch. Loretto, MN
We stopped in this small town looking for food and a place we could sit outside with Davis and found this joint. They had a Vikings brunch, bingo, and they allowed dogs on the porch…So I guess that made it Two Pig’s On The Porch. Bonus food review: It was fine.
(I often do a couple versions of color for some drawings. I couldn’t decide which I liked better, so I’ve included both.)
Sunday at the bar. Loretto, MN
Another round of beer, another round of pulltabs. There was no telling how long this had been going on or how long it would continue.
Saw this sweet old ride parked on a small town main street. I wish they still made at least one car like this. The world needs a comfy couch on wheels…floating down the highway on a big velour bench seat…that’s livin’.
Bored dog.
I saw this dog around the lake who seemed bored with his owners talking, not walking. He gave me a look and a tail wag that said: “Pet me and let’s get out of here and go get ice cream or something!”
Prison weed.
The first thing that caught my eye was how short the dude was…I thought he was standing on his knees, clearly a stunted growth thing. That’s when I noticed the shirt…hard to argue with that sentiment, but then I wonder if the stunted growth thing and the weed were connected…hmmm.
French Bulldogs.
Saw these two cute French Bulldogs hanging out under their owner waiting for treats.
I love that idea. The whole roadtrip concept has appealed to me for a long time. We have a largish Labrador Retriever that has been holding us back from doing much of a roadtrip. Ames, IA is about as far as we've gone.
