The White Squirrel.
We played a rockshow at this tiny little bar in St. Paul. I love the bar, but didn’t think they had loud rock bands play in that tiny space. Pretty fun gig, I hope people were wearing ear plugs.
Love the reel to reel player behind the bar. It looked pretty cool even if they weren’t using the thing.
The White Squirrel has a killer outdoor patio where there were a couple dudes making burgers on a tiny little grill. The wait for a burger was like 2 hours so I didn’t get one…but people said they make awesome burgers. I believe it.
Old dude on a cruise.
Rolled-up along side this old dude lookin’ smooth in his wrap-around shades and plaid hat.
Yellow caddie.
The dude driving this boat didn’t need wrap-around shades and a plaid hat to look cool…he let his car do the talking.
An actual pickup truck.
No power windows, no leather seats, no self driving mode…just a whole lotta soul. Wish they still made pickup trucks like this, or even sort of like this.
The greenest lawn in town.
Rick has the best lawn around…by far. Chances are, if you walk by Rick’s you’ll see him out happily caring for some pretty nice green grass. (And chances are if you walk by my lawn you’ll pretty much see some brown grass.)
Heights Theater.
The Heights is a great old school movie theater that makes any movie more fun to watch, but add in the organ player laying down tunes before the movie starts and you’ve got by far the coolest movie theater in town.
Barry did it again…he rented a movie theater for a night to have all of his friends come and watch a movie he loves. Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense. It was a very cool night at a very cool theater with a very cool guy.
A little light reading.
It was a beautiful October day and I saw this dude reading a book in the park. He had a worried look on his face and then I noticed the title of the book: ‘HOW DEMOCRACIES DIE.’ These are heavy times, indeed.
