Arthur Bryant’s.
We heard from a few different people that if we wanted good Kansas City BBQ we needed to go Bryant’s, so we did. And they were right.
Bryant’s is a classic place that’s been around for generations and most of the people there felt like they’d been coming for generations. I was the only one that didn’t understand how the ordering worked or what I should get. Luckily the line was long enough that I had time to figure it out.
this dude was all business...flying solo with a giant tray of meat and a couple slices of white bread. I bet his wife (and cardiologist) doesn’t even know he’s here.
I think this guy must have ordered 10 pounds of meat. “Oh hell...give me 2 more pounds. It’s your fault your food is so damn good!”
Zero Zero.
Man, I love this space. That tiny little building is so cool I loved the food before I even tried it. It’s a homemade pasta joint so we had to give it a try...the fancy mac & cheese and homemade focaccia bread was damn good.
We were on our way out of town so we got it to-go and didn’t get to eat in this cool space. They only have a few seats...the place is definitely made for making things, not serving things. Love the brick oven...that’s some serious business.
Le Burger.
Cool new (fancy) burger joint in Linden Hills. The burgers were very French (and very rich). We got a nicoise salad that was killer and the secret weapon on every table is the dijon mustard...the kind that will clear your head with just a taste.
There’s a good mix of people at Le Burger, from families with little kids to this guy that walked in solo to pick up a to-go order. He had the vibes like he’d been here before and knew a thing or two about burgers. I was digging his hat...not so much the traditional plaid...it was more of a picnic table cloth look.
I love the design...those posters are so cool.
Small Hours.
Killer little spot in Northeast Minneapolis that mostly just serves wine (and some food in tins) and spins records. It’s a hell of a dice bar.
Only in Minnesota.
Yes, that is a family on a frozen lake in the middle of the city roasting marshmallows over a camp fire. You read that right. A camp fire…on a frozen lake.
