Roadrunner Records.
Mighty small, mighty loud. Love this little building and what they’ve done with it. It was always easy to miss, not anymore…screams loud and clear with that color.
I’d love to know the history of that little building. Actually, building is a big word…it’s almost more of a shed.
The last guy that was in there made guitars. Nice guy. I did a drawing of him and his space. His mom was so proud of him she got a hold of me to order a print. I wonder if he still makes guitars…?
Smoke break.
Saw this old dude kickin’ it outside of Alma having a smoke break maybe waiting for a bus. One of the reasons I love the city so much is the mix of people all hanging out together, in the same spaces but living completely different lives. I’m not saying he doesn’t roll up into Alma and order the $115 prix fixe bison tartare, but I’m guessing it’s not his thing.
Davis!
Have I said how much I like dogs?
Well, a guard dog he is not. But he’s never late for dinner and will tackle you with love if you let him. He’s a very compact little guy...45 pounds of dog in a 15 pound body so people don’t expect him to be as strong as he is, but he will knock you over like a bowling pin. He knocked a woman on her butt just the other day. I tried to warn her, but she got down anyways and the bowling ball came in full speed for the strike.
I made the collar Davis wears...thick leather, with gold studs. I found this photo the other day of Winston Churchill and one of his bulldogs and not only does that look like Davis, his collar is almost identical.
Each weekend we take him to the coffeeshop. We sit right by the door and he greets everyone that comes inside. He’d be rich If he had a dollar for every person he made smile.
Briar Bar & Cafe.
This place doesn’t get nearly enough play. Located back in a Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood it’s easy to miss and doesnt fit the vibe of a typical Northeast dive/party bar or trendy restaurant. But the food is fantastic and simple, the drinks are great and the space is perfect for a game of dice. They have a patio so we’ll be back when the weather gets better and we’ll have Davis with us.
Screen time.
Are we going to have to start checking grandma’s screen time?...Because I see a lot of the olds on their phones a lot. And I mean A LOT. Like this one at the coffee shop...is the book her way of hiding her phone? She’s like a kid in class trying not to get busted by the teacher.
Yes, we need to start checking Grandma’s screen time! As a grandfather and an old, I know that were in tech trouble!
