Aster House.
Really cool building down by the river. We’ve only been once, but we loved the food and the space was killer, and they nailed the lighting, which so few restaurants get right. This is a place that should be getting way more attention than it is.
Red Jaguar.
This old dude was rollin’ in style. I bet he’s had that since it was new, he seemed at one with the machine like he’s had it his entire life.
Mother’s Day.
I stopped at the grocery store and saw this truck loading used flower containers from all the sold-out flowers. The woman seemed to be working frantically...I guess it was a busy day.
At the other end of the same grocery store parking lot was another truck...this one was unloading a restock of flowers...this woman was even more frantic than the other one. I guess there’s high demand for grocery store flowers on Mother’s Day. It’s the thought that counts...right?
Studio Z.
There’s a storefront down the street from us that is owned by the couple that used to own Cafe Zumbro. The space feels more like an art studio and I keep hoping they’ll open a coffee shop or something cool in the space. Last weekend they had a pop-up and sold stuff like muffins and cookies and pancake mix and tricked the space up for Mother’s day.
Bull’s Horn.
Love this place...and I’ve written about it many times, but I love that they went into a real dive bar, fixed it up, but didn’t screw it up. that’s rare. And the food, while still dive bar food...is really good. We stopped in to try the homemade “About A Foot Long” hotdog and it was fantastic.
Wonderful sketches, as always Robb! Thanks for brightening our days!
