Back in the day, when the Jaros building housed a joint called John’s Bar and Funhouse, the upstairs was used as part of a “white slavery”/prostitution ring with ties to Chicago. The owner was busted in 1953.
The old guy's hat looks like the one Thelonious Monk wore.
