Hello! Paul Lukas here — the guy who published 'Beer Frame'! Although BF no longer exists, I'm a fellow Substacker, under the Inconspicuous Consumption name. My work isn't as product-focused as it was in the BF days, but it's still about minutiae obsession as its own reward. You can check it out at inconspicuous.info. (One of my readers spotted the BF mention in your post and let me know about it, which is how I became aware of your Substack.)
As for the Tube Wringer: I don't think I ever wrote about that! But I did write about a similar product called the Ex-Squeeze-It -- which I still use!
oh wow...thanks for the note! (there's a celebrity in the house!) beer frame was perfection...everything about it was perfect...the format, the logo...all of it. I'm looking at them right now on my comic book stand (right above joe matt's peepshow and just below ben katchor's julias knipl, real estate photographer)
Thanks for the kind words! ... I'm proud to say that Ben K is a friend and former colleague. I have a framed print of his in my bedroom! ... In yet another coincidence, I just found the Strib profile of you. The person who wrote it, Rachel Hutton, is another longtime friend. We met because she was a Beer Frame fan! Small world. ... Feel free to be in touch: plukas64@gmail.com
doesn’t look like i can share photos in the comments…but i think i will include something about leather in next week’s post…a couple people have reached out asking about it.
Brass is so cool - my two piece key fob with the sister clasp has been with me for nearly five years already, and will still be with me when they take all my keys away.

As someone who just finished making a their first hand-sti hex leather bag I would love to see pictures of your other leatherwork.

The spinner looks something like a dreidel.
I’d be interested in learning more about your leather story as well.
